Explain the Role of Computer Systems in Different Environments

Explain the Role of Computer Systems in Different Environments In todays era, computer has become one of the basic needs for human beings. Computer which we used like every day was invented for solely one purpose i.e. for calculating numerical problems and mathematical calculations. The term computer is derived from Latin world called computare which means to calculate. With the advancement of technologies, computer has become one of the powerful machines ever created. There are different environments or surroundings where computers are used. For example, people can communicate from one place to another place or from one country to another. Similarly, people can withdraw their money from the bank even living in another country. Some of the areas or surroundings in which computers are used are as follows: Science and technologies: Computer has become one of major role in the in the science and technological area. Scientists can perform haphazard experiments like nuclear testing, radioactive experiments, space programmes etc. Similarly, they can keep their records of their experiments, journals etc that can be retrieve whenever they wanted. Also they can get information on various subjects like weather forecasting, earthquake, volcanic eruption etc. Medicine : A computer system has played a major role in field of medicine. Now doctors can perform critical operations like heart surgery and others due to advancement of medical instruments. Similarly, in pharmaceuticals, people working in these areas can keep the records in computer like manufacture date, date of supplies, and expiry date of medicines. Government: Offices Banks Home Task 2: explain the, hardware, software and peripheral components of a computer system. As stated earlier, a computer is an electronic device. That means a computer consists of a wires, components that helps to run a computer. Basically, there are two parts or components that help to run a computer. They are: Hardware. Software. Parts of computer Hardware Hardware Software Hardware: A physical component that helps to run a computer is called hardware. Simply saying, any parts of a computer which we can see, feel and touch is called hardware. The examples of hardware are as follows: Keyboard: It is also one of the input devices. It is used for entering textual data that consist of alphabets, numbers, special characters etc. The following are the different types of keyboard: 105 keys: desktop keyboard 85 keys: laptop keyboard Virtual keyboard Wi-Fi keyboard Mouse: It is a pointing device used to position cursor on screen. It has 3 buttons. They are: Left button Right button Scroll button There are mainly two types of mouse. They are as follows: Scroll mouse: It has ball at its base that is use to roll over mouse pad. Optical mouse: It has LED base which emits light. This light is used to position cursor deflection. It does not require mouse pad. Motherboard: It is the main component of CPU cabinet that houses the entire electronic component inside a computer. hard disc: A hard disc is a physical component that is used for storing data. A hard drive can store millions of data permanently i.e. the data will be stored even if the power is off. RAM : RAM is known as Random Access Memory. It is also called volatile memory because it saves the data temporarily when the computer is on. When the computer is turned off, all the data that is stored or saved by RAM will be deleted. Software: Software is a set of instructions that helps to run the computer. Or a set of programs used as info systems is called software. Basically there are two types of computer. They are: System software: System software deals with the internal functions of a computer. It loads when a computer starts and is used for interaction with the hardware. Example: operating system, device drivers etc. Operating system: Operating system consists of programs that manage all operations of computer. The main tasks performed by operating systems are as follows: Booting: Booting is the process of starting the computer and loading operating system with system files. The system files are follows: Command. Com Config.sys Autoexec.bat After checking the configurations of the systems and found ok operating system loads/ prepares desktop/laptop for user. Security: A computer requires security data stored in inside it. To provide assets to appropriate user authentication process (username, password) is followed. If incorrect password is found, user is denied assets. Files are protected by taking password for each file. Networking: The computer files, programs, I/O devices etc. Can be shared by networking. Networking allows two or more than two computers to be connected to each other. Networking also allows sharing of interest connection for browsing web-pages. Task: Operating system executes different tasks. Each task means process. So, multiple processes are executed and each process request resources. Application software: The software used for fulfilling the requirement of the user is called application software. It is used by computer user after computer finishes starting (booting). Example: MS-Office, tally, games etc. Application software are created to fulfil the requirement of a computer user needs. Peripheral components: The parts of the computer that helps in running a computer is called peripheral component. These types of component generally found inside or outside of casing cabinet of a computer. We can also say that the components or devices that provide input to the computer or receive output are called peripheral components. Some of the examples are as follows: Printer Mouse Touch screen Microphone Video camera Task 3: compare different types of computer systems. Consider the todays mini world uses different types of computer for different purposes, your first task is to identify and list different types of computer system based on working principles, size and brand. Then explain their available features, application areas and finally suggest which types of computer system would be suitable for above environments. As stated earlier, a computer is a powerful machine ever created by humans. A computer can complete its task within fraction of seconds. The higher the power, the time taken is less. A computer is generally divided into four types on its basis: On the basis of operations or work. On the basis of size. On the basis brand. On the basis of function. On the basis of operations or work: On the basis on performing an operation or doing a work, computer has been categorised into three types. They are as follows: Analog computers: These types of computers works in continuing ranges of values. The results given by these computers are approximate since they work continously in their related fields. It generally deals with the physical quantities like speed, pressure etc. The examples of analog computer are speedometer, sthethescope, barometer etc. Digital computers: These type computers are usec in binary digits i.e. 0 and 1. It is genrally used as on and off operators. The results given by the digital computers are correct and are more reliable than analog computers. They are used in performing complex mathematical probles and engineering. Hybrid computers: Hybrid computers are combined form of both analog and digital computers, hybrid computers

Amerindian History Essay

The history of Trinidad begins with the settlement of the island by Amerindians. This dates back to at least 7000 years at Banwari Trace which is the oldest discovered human settlement in Eastern Caribbean. The Amerindian tribes were referred to by various names, example: Yaio, Garini, Nepuyo, Warac and many others. They were described as a peaceful people. The closest approximation to formal education was father’s instructions to boys in the use of tools, weapons, the lore, rites and religion of the group. These religions were particularly formalized by caciques or chief with respect to their sons. They were actively engaged in hunting, gathering fruits and shell fish as a means of survival. Their main staple was cassava. They traded with their neighbours on the mainland although they did not have a money economy. Christopher Columbus, before his third voyage had promised the queen of Spain, Queen Isabella that the first land he came upon would be named after the Holy Trinity. It was considered a miracle when the first land he sighted was the three peaks of the Trinity Hills. They anchored the next morning (1st August 1498) at Point Erin. On the second they sailed to Icacos Point and Anchored in the Gulf or Paria. After exploring the Gulf they anchored on the 12th August 1498 at Monkey Harbour on Charcachacare Island. On the 13th August 1498, they sailed through the Grand Boca and claimed the island of Trinidad and Tobago for Spain. Trinidad and Tobago was reported to be densely populated at the start of the colonial period. Although in 1510, Trinidad was said to have peaceful Indians along the whole South America Coast, the demand for slaves to supply the pearl fisheries in nearby Isla Margarita led to them being declared â€Å"Caribs† (thus, fair game for slaves) in 1511. As a consequence, Trinidad became the focus of the Spanish slaving raids. Under a system employed by the Spanish Crown (Encomienda System), a person was granted a specific number of natives for whom they were to take responsibility. The receivers if this grant were to protect the natives from warring tribes and to instruct them in the Spanish language and in the Catholic faith. In return, they could extract tribute from the natives in the form of labour, gold, or other products. Failure to comply with this usually led to extreme punishment and death. The Amerindians were against this encomienda system which was basically a form of slavery and they were also against conversion to Christianity. Their way of life as they knew it was no longer, in that, they would now have to follow the Spanish culture, example, learn and speak the Spanish language, attires would be that of the Spanish influence, they now planted cocoa instead of cassava, and they would now have to follow Christian faith. Under this system many Amerindians were wiped out. Spanish missions were established as part of the Spanish colonization here as in its other New World conquest. In 1687 the Catalan Capuchin frairs were given the responsibility for the conversion of the indigenous population of Trinidad and Tobago and the Guianas. In 1713, the missions were handed over to the secular clergy. Due to shortage of missionaries, although missions were established they often went without Christian instructions for long periods of time. Between 1687 and 1700 several missions were founded in Trinidad but only four survived as Amerindian villages throughout the eighteenth century. 1. La Anuncita de Savana Grande (Princes Town) 2. Purisima Concepcion de Maria Santisima de Guayri (San Fernando) 3. Santa Ana de Savaneta (Savonetta) 4. Santa Rosa de Arima (Arima) The mission of Santa Rosa de Arima was established in 1789 when Amerindians from the former encomiendas of Tacarigua and Arauca(Arouca) were relocated further west. On December 1st 1699 the Arena Massacre (also known as the Arena Uprising) took place. This was as a result of the tension between priests and Amerindians. Amerindian in an attempt to regain their freedom murdered many priest. After being hunted by the Spanish, some of the survivors (Amerindians) were reported to have committed suicide by jumping off cliffs into the sea, however some were captured. Although the Spanish settlement began in the 16th century, the population in 1783 was less than three thousand, the Majority being Amerindians. In 1783 the proclamation of the Cedula of Population (a law passes by the Spanish Crown) granted 32 acres of land to each Roman Catholic who settled in Trinidad and half as much for each slave that they brought. Under this law, incentives such as free land, and exemption from paying most taxes, were granted. Because of the Hatian Revolution, many people from the French islands saw this as incentive and migrated to Trinidad along with their culture and slaves. The French at this time would have planted Sugar Cane for the purpose of Trade which would have in turn improved the economy of Trinidad. A census in 1777 showed 2763 people, by the time 1797 the population 17,643, by 1960 the population was 827,957, by this time the population contained no Amerindians.

“Go Home!” Orbit the thrills of Baseball

Baseball – one of the most enticing games aired on television or even watched on an arena (Thomas & Hall, 2004). What could have been the thrills and the grills being offered by such game that it has continuously captured the hearts and the beats of those who have the â€Å"it† on sports? What makes it distinctive from other sport? Why not chose indoor games for efficient viewing and playing? Why do players risk their lives over the sturdiness of the bat and that round piece of hard material? Which is most likely to give them scars and hit them in the most fragile part? And most of all – what’s with going â€Å"home†, that all seem to fasten their seatbelt for every player which takes the run for that square realm (Young, 2007)? The answer is sought between the lines of the art and the adventure of the game mixed with a feeling of hysteria taking the audience to a whole new dimension called ‘adrenalin rush’. Why do we love baseball? It i s quite rigid to put into words the perfect and precise definition of a certain sport which caters almost the entirety of a fan.An individual’s fondness of such sport is considerably taken to be like an addiction which tends to make one forget the atmosphere a person is on to given the fact that according to psychological explanations, an individual’s enthusiasm for a certain material, event or person, creates a stable visual image which apt to trigger the person’s cognitive side making one’s self have the feeling of attachment to the one being idolized (Formosa & Hamburger, 2006).Being a player, and being a member Branch Rickey, a baseball almanac feature icon (Young, 2007), once stated a conducive line with regards to baseball stating that it is only in the field of baseball sphere that a player is able to fulfill its essence of individualism at the initial part, and a team player after playing across the line of the rules as well as with the gameâ€⠄¢s spirit.Further, baseball analysts found the game the sole representation of the simplicity of sports, and that is for a player to only follow the rules. Unlike all the other complicated sport which has been established, baseball is the only sport by which argumentative perspectives are not given credit onto, for the reason that the life of the game lie on the ‘calls’ of the umpire and the guidelines of such (Formosa & Hamburger, 2006).Baseball tools as armors in the game There are four basic tools considered in the game that would be the component of the bat, ball, mitt and the field which requires every player for the familiarity of each item. Considered as an offensive tool, the bat, which is usually made of aluminum or of wood, actually dependent on the certain game, is characterized as a stick particularly with a diameter of 2 inches exception of its handle ranging about 1 inch in length. The ‘runner’s fear’ when inside the field, the ball, us ually in a size like of that of an average man’s fist conceivably colored in white with red stitches (Formosa & Hamburger, 2006). Furthermore, the glove, which is described in modern idiom as that of a baker’s, deemed as a defensive tool which is ended through leather intended for the â€Å"fielders† to catch the ball and â€Å"hit† on home-running opponents. And finally, the filed, the immortal â€Å"diamond† catering four â€Å"bases† or â€Å"plates†, guarded and sought by players. The considered â€Å"guards† of each ‘diamond’ inside the ‘diamond’ are called â€Å"infielders† while those outside the boundaries of the diamond are called â€Å"outfielders† (Thomas & Hall, 2004). Must-know as a player This adrenalin-rushing roller coaster ride game is played by two teams, taking turns as the â€Å"offensive† and â€Å"defensive† party. Each team are to aim for â€Å"runsâ⠂¬ , with 9 or 10 players shifting turns, as they strive to complete counter-clockwise tour in the four bases (Young, 2007).But one must take note of the risk in the mentioned tour, it does not only require one â€Å"mere walking†, there will be â€Å"opponents† whose only goal is to catch the ball â€Å"hit† by the â€Å"batter† and hit it on bases, or either pass on the the â€Å"pitcher†, defined as the â€Å"king of the defensive team†, for the reason that, he must see to it that the ball is aimed to their team’s â€Å"catcher† situated behind the opponent’s â€Å"batter† so as to call for a â€Å"strike†. The dreadful â€Å"strike†, takes a â€Å"batter† get a chance to get a gist for a homerun and thus after 3 â€Å"strikes† shall be considered â€Å"OUT† and won’t be able to make that tour in the diamond.Like all the other sport, there are also certain techniques l aid on the table so as to prevent from getting â€Å"strikes† or getting â€Å"it† by â€Å"fielders†. Modus operandi on baseball A popular technique for offensive players, specifically the batter, is to trick the pitcher from where the bat is lined to, so as to get a full blast of the hit. For fielders, waiting for a run however, since that they are given the chance to leave the â€Å"base† if the ball is released, may trick the opponent to make-believe that they are about to run, thus confuse the fielders on which base to are to settle (Staff, 2005).Regardless of how complicated the web of techniques baseball has to offer, a player only needs to remember one thing, and that is to go for a homerun without getting caught in between. On the contrary, the defensive team, being on the crucial side of the â€Å"inning† may as well send implicit collaborated messages, through the pitcher and the fielders, most especially the catcher, so as to hit the ba ll to the â€Å"active† opponent positioned on the plates. Don’t let the batter go for a tourFive common ways to out an offensive player are as follows: strike-out (3 strikes, so the batter won’t be a runner), ground-out (batter hits the ball, but pitcher gets the ball right after it is hit), force-out (when a runner tries to steal an advance run to the next base and the fielder catches the ball before the runner steps on the plate), fly-out (a fielder catches the ball after it had been hit) and tag-out (fielder touches a runner with a held ball). There are various methods in order to click on the game and win it all actually depends on each player’s wit in playing and team-spirit without selfish credence (Cramer & Stout, 2004; Young, 2007). Conclusion The only effective and practical secret on to winning the game is through following the rules and loving the game.Individual skills are indeed important to reach the height of success, but what takes much in the spirit of the match is not on what one will gain over one’s effort, sometimes, the most important part of it isn’t the victory garnered in fame or in price, but the experience and the moment shared with all the other members who fulfilled the joy of the team (Young, 2007), and most persistently, it’s completing baseball fanatics’ dream of taking an exhilarating fun ride watching their stars making homeruns. So, fasten your seatbelts, prepare your yells, it’s all you need to stay alive while experiencing the thrill of a baseball game.
